The Wisconsin Chapter is proud to present the following two awards each year at our Business Networking Meeting at the WAFLT Fall Conference.
Profesor/a Distinguido/a
- Each year AATSP-WI celebrates a Spanish/Portuguese teacher that has demonstrated excellence in the classroom, their community, and/or within our organization.
Friend of AATSP-WI Award
- This award will be given to an individual or organization that has made notable contributions to the Spanish or Portuguese language community in Wisconsin. This award is designed to honor those that have supported world language education but are outside of the language teaching profession.
Nominations can be submitted with later this year. The deadline for nomination submissions is October 1 for consideration for that year’s conference.

Erin Falk
New Berlin Eisenhower Middle/High School
Erin Falk has devoted nearly twenty years to language education, encouraging students to explore the world with curiosity and to reflect on their own values through the study of language and culture. She believes that language learning is about so much more than just language – it is a pathway to understanding, empathy, and connection. Erin is honored to receive the AATSP-WI Distinguished Educator Award in recognition of her commitment to this meaningful work.

Jacobo is a passionate advocate for the transformative power of the arts—believing deeply in their ability to enrich lives and unite communities through shared cultural traditions. He recognizes the vital role the arts play in fostering economic vitality, attracting diverse talent, and nurturing inclusive growth within the community. Under his leadership at Latino Arts, Inc., the Hispanic community and underserved youth have gained expanded opportunities to engage with and learn from the rich and diverse cultural arts traditions of Milwaukee’s Hispanic community.
